A FEW DAYS OF NOSTALGIA & ADULATION (Part 1)
Finally managed to fly back through Seoul having lost 2 days of vacation!!
A brief diary from 29th Jan to 8th Feb -
29 Jan: Back to home sweet home ... ma cooked some friedrice and chicken .... ummmm .... delicious!!
Then started the phone calls, invariably starting with 5 basic questions - kemon achis? koto forsha holi? mota hoyechis? kobe aschis? koto thanda okhane? (how r u/how fair have u become/how fat have u become/when can we meet up/how cold is it out there) . Felt more like an answering machine at the end of the day!!
30 Jan: Boojhe and food @ Calcutta Rowing Club!! Drive on the Bypass and back home at midnight.
31 Jan: Visits to Mashis, Pishis, Kakus n Jethus!!
1st Feb: Boojhe, food n night out at Ayushman's place.
2nd Feb - 4th Feb: Kgp (a post on this will follow shortly). Suffice to say lots of senti, boojhe n adda
4th Feb evening: Back home and off again to my cousin's place. Another night of boojhe and adda and a drive on EMB!!
5th Feb: Family jhing-bang @ Bar-B-Q!! A sight worth seeing!! (maybe will post something on it shortly)
6th Feb: Shopping to upgrade the home PC with voice n cam ... yippeeee ... now can c ma n baba regularly while chatting!! A visit to Priya cinema went totally wrong (we didnt know the correct time for the show) ... came back but spent a nice evening with Ays' parents n Thakuma.
7th Feb: A mini get together again at Priya ... really nice movie ... 15 Park Avenue.
8th Feb: Packing and getting more senti at home ... the last day of polau, mach and ma-er ador at home!! Again felt like an answering machine at the end of the day having answered at least 20-30 phone calls all wishing me the same.
But then this love and warmth was what made the visit so special!! So little sleep over the entire vacation but feel so re-juvenated!!
Family jhing-bang @BBQ!!
Confused in the mellee!!!! :)
Its been a tumultous ending to the training programme. It all started with (as Sandy puts it) a "script of a bad Michael Crichton novel" during the final practical. Only that there was no reason to think that this trend would continue for quite some time.
The travel agent in India who had initially booked them seemed to be a paranoid schizophrenic whose only aim in life seemed to be doing the exact opposite of what we would ask him to do!! Finally got the original tickets cancelled and re-booked flights through Frankfurt on Jan 25th. Bags packed, taxis booked, all preparations for the journey back home seemed complete ... only for the Canadian authorities to step in hours before the flight to inform me that I could not travel through Frankfurt without a transit visa. After much haggling (an hour and a half to be precise) and 5 phone calls to Frankfurt later, it seemed there was no way I would be allowed to board the flight. Thus came crashing down the grand plans of meeting with near and dear ones!! The fiasco seemed inevitable given the strange immigration regulations in Canada. Imagine a country where you need a visa to enter but even if it expires you can stay on legally by just extending your resident/visitor status - God knows which nerd came up with such an idea. And this was the exact situation with my visa and hence the need of a transit visa!!
