A "FURRY FUZZY" WEEKEND

Its been aeons since my last post and I'm sure some of you have stopped visiting this blog!! My apologies indeed. It has been more of a lack of things to write about rather than a lack of time, aptly called the "writer's block" (not that I consider myself too much of a writer though!!)

Anyways here's a blog about an interesting weekend, which began with temperatures reaching a Dutch record of 36 degC!! With no signs of the heat wave abating and having come back from a wellsite on Friday afternoon, the obvious plans were to laze around as much as possible!!

Note: Given my single status in the apartment, I do consider house cleaning and laundry to be lazing around.

Even before I realized the weekend had started, a quarter of it had already gone thanks to a sound sleep till 2 PM on Saturday!! This was followed by the usual lunch and catching up with news in India (thanks to Skype and the mobile fone)!! And then opened the skies ... it poured like there could be no tommorrow ... and this provided the ideal setting to showcase soccer skills on the rooftop of Zeeburgerkade with a diverse group of equally enthusiastic players determined to enjoy the pleasures of getting drenched and kicking a ball around with gallons of water, equally!! An hour and a half of fun in the rain later, it was time to go back to sleep and there I was almost within touching distance of my record sleep of 17 hours in a single day!! Dinner and a couple of beers later it was time to hit the bed again!! :D

Sunday passed almost in a blur though this time I did manage to wake up in the former half of the day!! House cleaning, laundry, dishwashing and cooking occupied various time slots in the remainder of the day.

Monday morning was back to office mode; only the missed weekend party seemed to haunt. So off it was to Leidseplein on Monday evening for Capt Jack Sparrow (PoC-2 for the uninitiated). A movie and 3 more hours later when it was time to head back home (factually it was 4 am Tuesday morning), did realization dawn that 6:45 would the wake up call for office!! And thus came the most dramatic turn of events of the weekend ...

I was about 600m from home walking back "steadily" when a whining noise caught my attention. There stood majestic Puss-in-Boots (Shrek 2), collar in place, looking utterly lost and confused (which cat does not anyway!!!) staring at me with pleading eyes. A couple of ruffles later it followed me all the way to my house as if it had known me since Buddha was born!! :)

A thorough soap mop and some chicken slices later it decided to contend itself cuddling up to me and spending the rest of the night (or whatever remained) nestled in my chest!!

Thus another development in my life ... a new pet, aptly named "PUSS' (though she does not recognize the name as yet) . Only thing ... not yet sure what to do with her when I go offshore.

Developments today -
She seemed a little homesick and lonely, not wanting to eat initially but later was back to her normal playful self, now having decided to play a new game of typing by walking all over my laptop keyboard whenever I have work on it!! Thankfully she looks tired enough to go to sleep!!

P.S> Pics to follow soon.
